Oudomxay string bags a hit with Japanese buyers
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – A villagers’ group in Oudomxay province is meeting with great success in selling different sized bags and cotton products, both locally and in Japan.
The bags are made from a jungle vine called kheuapiad and have proved particularly popular with Japanese buyers following changes in design that provided more choices.
The attractive string bags were on display last week at the Lao Handicraft Festival in Vientiane, where Mr Vilaiphet Ounaphone, who represented the villagers’ group was doing a brisk trade.
